LED backglass tube replacement kit — Gottlieb System 80B

The fluorescent tube in your Gottlieb backglass is forty years old. The ballast hums, the starter clatters, the tube flickers for ten seconds before it will light — and one day it stops lighting altogether. This kit retires the whole lot.

An LED strip and a compact transformer module replace the tube, the ballast and the starter. Instant, even light with no flicker across the full width of the backglass, for a fraction of the current draw and with no heat.

Why replace the tube

• Instant switch-on — no warm-up, no flicker, no dark patches at the ends of the tube.
• Even backglass lighting — the strip spreads light across the full width instead of creating hot spots.
• Runs cool — far less heat in the backbox, and no more ballast hum.

Fitting a GottFA80_Plus or Lisy80 board?

On Diamond Lady, TX-Sector, Robo-War, Excalibur, Bad Girls, Big House, Hot Shots and Bone Busters, the original fluorescent tube gets in the way of the board and has to be raised or repositioned. This kit solves the problem for good: the LED strip is flat, sticks wherever you want and no longer obstructs any board.

Installation — about 10 minutes

No soldering, no drilling, no board modification. You cut the two 115 V AC wires that fed the original tube, strip them and clamp them into the supplied lever-action Wago connectors. The transformer module and the LED strip stick down with the double-sided tape already fitted.

Safety

This kit connects to the backglass 115 V AC line. Always unplug the pinball machine from the mains before any work. If you are not comfortable with mains wiring, have the installation done by someone who is.
